Hi Dr Mercola, Would you please tell me if emulsifiers are okay? I looked on an ice cream container and it said it had emulsifier 477 and 471. I looked through google and found the European Food Emulsifiers Association who say that there is nothing wrong with them. Do you agree or is it just the same old things of "avoid processed foods"? Thanks, Mary.

Mary, you have to think BIG picture. You are concerned about details that are virtually irrelevant with respect to the other ingredients. Nearly all ice cream is loaded with sugar that will cause your body FAR more harm than the emulsifiers you are concerned with.
Additionally the ice cream is PASTEURIZED milk. If you don't know why you need to avoid that please review my site.

Mary:
It would be good if you lived near us. My wife and i love ice cream also. We make it from our goats milk, raw of course, eggs, pasture raised, bit of stevia and small amount of raw sugar, plus what ever flavor we want it to be. There is just nothing to compare the taste of freshly mixed home made ice cream. I would invite you over to enjoy it but New Zealand is a bit of a distance.
