I am in my early twenties, and I was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Are there any cutting-edge, natural means (such as systemic enzymes) of fighting this illness?

Tough one. If there are any consistently effective treatments that will resolve type one diabetes I am unaware of them.  Type two diabetes is nearly 100% reversible in everyone but this is not true for type one.

Fortunately you live in the 20th century and I remain very confident that stem cell treatments and artificial pancreas with feedback loops from implanted sensors will provide a very good solution for you in the near future. In the meantime you have to eat virtually perfectly and follow the Total Health Program to a T.

You have to preserve as much function as possible until an effective solution is available in the next 5-20 years.

You should definetly get Doug Kaufmann's book "Infectious Diabetes". He proposes an interesting theory to explain Type I diabetes. He has treated cases of Type I diabetes succesfully with a no-grain, no-sugar diet and the help of anti-fungals. The more recent the diabetes, the greater the posibility of success.

Im suprised Mercola isnt familar with Glyconutrients.

That would probably completely or near completely take
care of the problem or improve it dramatically!
