Mixed Type meal plan and weight loss

I just took the nutritional typing test and found out that I am a mixed type and have printed out the charts and made a menu to follow along with the recommendations of the meal plans from Dr. M and I was just wondering if anyone has had success with losing weight by following this meal plan?

I have 130 lbs to lose and am having a hard time getting started on the diet plan. I also wonder about putting my children on the plan for mixed type people too because they have to eat what I cook and I dont want them to end up eating the wrong foods because its what is good for me. Also my husband has type 2 diabetes and is also a mixed type and I want to make sure I am doing things right for him, do you have any suggestions as to things we should or should not do with the diet plans? We are avoiding most of the foods on the secondary list except I am having a piece of fruit with my breakfast in the morning, but other than that we are not eating from that list, is that ok or should we include more of those foods?

I feel a little uneasy I think just because I am eating more fat than I was before and what Dr. M says about our nutritional type goes against what i have always heard about weight loss and it takes some getting used to. I guess the only way to know what works is to try the diet plan and see how it goes, right?

Thank you for your help

Rebekah

I also just took the test today and I am a mixed also.  So tonight I made beef, potatoes and cauliflower and a salad with salsa as dressing, not sure if it was right or not but was already cooking while I was taking the test, so tomorrow will my first day on the plan. I hope to get and give an update.

I just want to say that I followed the mixed type diet strictly last summer.  In 4 weeks I lost several INCHES from my thighs and butt.  I could fit into all my 'skinny' jeans.  I was eating small servings of salmon plus chicken breast or an egg at each meal with alfalfa sprouts, olive oil, lemon juice, ground flaxseed and the appropriate vegetables.  My skin was glowing and the circles under my eyes completely disappeared after 4 weeks, not to mention super high happy emotions throughout the day. It is by far the best weight loss diet I've done to achieve such drastic results without hardly any exercise.  Recommend it strongly if you can stick to it.

I took the test some weeks ago and have been following the diet since then with my husband. We are both losing weight-- my husband is overjoyed as he has gone down a pants size. I am very overweight and the changes are visible but not so dramatic yet. Slowly slowly seems to be the way it is going for me but it is going!  Also I feel better than I have in a long time-- I have done every diet on the planet and this one is easy to follow and if one goes off immediate weight gain does not seem to happen-- it s more a stall than a reversal if I eat at a pary or a restaurant and don't follow the diet.. On Dr. Atkins if I went off the diet it was a huge reversal and sometimes I would gain as much as 10 pounds before the reversal would stop and I could get back on track-- that was demoralizing-- this diet does not do that which gets my vote so far!

I haven't took that test yet, but I seen some examples of it. When I do take the test and they ask what do I usually eat, and how do I feel after a certain tye of food, how should I answer those if I dont really eat any of those categories.

Hi Bighouse,

You mentioned you did the diet last summer.  Are you still practicing it or did you move on to other things?
