Reduce the total categories down to 8 more general ones, and eliminate subcategories. This will make things much more managable.
As a casual user of the site, I like to be able to log on and quickly scan all topics for interest. This simply cannot happen when currently there are nearly 40 different subcatories/categories. I think in this case, less is more... at least until a heavy traffic warrants, which at now it does not.
Hi! I wrote this suggestion a few years back, but I wanted to update it more.
I believe the current setup of the forum is too spread out to effectively locate information, and also there lacks certain areas for information to be posted (cannot find relevent category).
As an example, Juicing has its own sub forum on this site, which may be a bit much and could possibily be condensed to another category, but could stand fine as a subcategory ... however the juicing category alone has 3 separate subcategories on top of that, which I think is definitely too much leading to spread out or weak information.
As for what could be added, a 'general discussion' type forum is a good place to discuss new and relevent topics. For example, if I wanted to discuss the topic of 'Cancer,' right now there is no place for me to really put that.
As of now, July 2009. there are 17 subforums, and over 50 separete forums including sub-sub forums. Its just too much, or the current category list need looking at or reworking.
In general, I think the forum should be consolidated and become more general, with perhaps 6 main categories, and 3-4 max subcategories each. As traffic increases this could be increased, but right now I think the overly expansive layout is preventing this discussion forum from becoming more popular and actually scaring/confusion possible participants away.
Best regards, I'd like to help any way I can to help this site.
