Mixed Type Recipes

If anyone would like to add a recipe for a mixed type meal plan feel free.  If I feel it may need some adjusting I will either do this in the post or make reference to it.  This will be a big advantage to all of us on the forum.

Is a Whey Healthier protein shake with cocoanut oil and fruit an appropriate mixed type breakfast?

I am new to the forums.

Have been on the mixed diet for two days. So far so good!

Can anyone recommend some good soups, both light and hearty for these cold days of winter?

Here is an idea for a yummy soup.  I would also take a look at a book called Nourishing Traditions.  It's a great book and worth learning about.

My own version of Italian Wedding Soup

1-2 quarts of chicken broth (preferably organic and free-range)

1 lb. of ground beef or ground turkey ***

5-6 each carrots, celery stalks

1 each onion and pepper chopped

good handful of mushrooms

1 head of organic escarole or bunch of spinach well washed and chopped

1 cup cooked pasta/per person to be added to soup

Salt, pepper, oregano and a good shot of hot sauce to taste.

This sounds delicious.   I am just beginning the NT eating plan.   Unless I am not studying it completely, pasta would not be allowed.   Would this be a recipe for later in the program?

You may be able to use a non-glutenous grain instead of the pasta like buckwheat, amaranth, quinoa or millet.  Or make some celery root mashed potatoes to eat on the side, spaghetti squash or zucchini noodles or just leave it out.  I follow it loosely.  I'm gluten free and mostly dairy free, although I do have raw dairy. Everything else in the soup should be legal.

You can buy the book The Specific Carbohydrate Diet or Body Ecology Diet.  Both have web sites but the books will be good to have.  The Specific Carb Diet was written for people with autism and ADHD BUT going off gluten and dairy will help everybody, so says my naturopath.
