I have heard many benefits of "kangen" alkaline drinking water at a ph 9.5. Is this recommended for a mixed type? Also can water actually reduce our bodies acidity? Also as a side thought if I made  water filtered decaf coffee with alkaline water and raw milk ....would that be a healthy choice :) ?

Hello,

I cannot comment on the kangen system at this time.  I am attending a presentation on this in the near future and will have an opinion after I have listened to the information and have tried it myself first.

The correct amount of anything that the body needs to balance will also have a balancing affect on PH so yes.

Yes your coffee suggestion would work fine in small amounts at the end of a meal.

Hi Glen, I have not seen an update on this since August 6, 2008.

Have you finally seen a presentation and tried it yourself?

I would LOVE your input...not just on Kangan Water but the Water ionizer machines period.

I have been looking at Life water in Carlsbad as an afordable option.

I like what I read on the benefits of alkaline water.  Like anything else I just want to make sure its all true...not hype pr trend.

I want to do this for my family if in fact it is all what it is said to be.

I keep checking Dr Mercola's site to see if he has done some research on it.  I really trust his and his associates opinions.

Thank you,

Lisa

I heard about alkaline ionized water in Feb 2007 and was confused as heck which one to buy because there are so many options - 17 brands and rising - and deceptions???  My dad died of leukemia when I was 11 years old and his death devastated our family.  I have been really concerned with my health because, aside from leukemia/cancer/high blood pressure running in the family, I also had 5 years of chemical exposure (benzene, toluene, etc.) at work.

It took me about 4 months to do research and due diligence.  In the process I found out that every ionizer review website was always bashing the Kangen brand.  I found all supposedly "independent" ionizer review sites turned out to be Kangen competitor distributor sites!!!  Some deceptive websites even have domain names bearing "integrity" on it.

I even saw a video showing ORP values!  They were showing 3 brands with less than -170 mv for ORP including Kangen.  It took me a while to figure out how they produced a low -140 mV ORP reading value for Kangen because I always consistently get -600 mV to -800 mV from my Kangen ionizer.

Be careful with this deception so rampant out there.  I almost fell into the trap. In the end, you always get what you pay for.

I finally bought my Kangen machine despite the cost when I read documents and testimonials by two naturopathic doctors who had previously invested in other brands - to be exact 7 other brands prior to their encounter with Kangen.

There are pictures of the ionization chamber that I wanted to show on this post but I could not get it up.  The Kangen ionization chamber has 455% more (or 4.5 times more) surface area than the most popular Korean brand.  If the $2,000 competitor says that theirs is the baseline, and the Kangen has 4.5 times the surface area, then Kangen ionizer should be around $9,000 - fortunately the Kangen ionizer is not.   If you like to see this document, please feel free to email me at KangenGuru@gmail.com.

Dear Kangun Guru,

We are buying the water weekly from a local health store. We finally found after many attempts to get the proper PH. We found that Evian water had a ph of around 8.  We were hoping for higher quality, then of course you have the plastic bottles which don't help. I am dealing with stage 3 breast cancer. I have been researching cancer treatments since Aug 2008.

One question I have is whether or not you know if Kangen water cleans up the chlorine and floride that is toxic?

Thank you!! God Bless you.

My Kangen water ionizer, the SD501, has a built in High Grade filter that removes Chlorine and Lead.  It does not remove flouride.  Enagic, however, has a very affordable supplemental filter kit.  This kit has 3 cartridges - sediment, KDF filter, and ion exchange - that you connect externally inline before the ionizer.

The KDF cartridge is the element that removes flouride and other impurities.  I was looking for the spec sheet but could not find it right away.  Please feel free to email me at kangenguru (AT symbol) gmail.com so I can email it to you.

Any thought son the Charged For Life system at www.chargedforlife.com ?

It seems they are VERY open about their research and how it works and it is only $200 vs $4,000.00 for Kangen. It was recommended from someone and they say they have seen results within a week.

Love to hear if anyone else has tried it or what their opinion is upon reviewing the site and their research.

Hi wealthyheath,

When people ask me why I bought the $3,980 unit, I tell them that I have looked at a lot of information on the internet.

If price were my original issue, I could have bought a do-it-your-self kit on eBay for  $8.95!  Since I have a Chemical Engineering degree it would have been fairly easy to assemble one.  I also saw another one for $149 offered on eBay.  There are Enagic ionizers on eBay but they are NOT covered by warranty - so you are on your own because Enagic warranty covers the original purchaser only (read the fine print).

Because I wanted an ionizer for my health (and my family as well), the final decision based on my due diligence was the Enagic SD501.

Once a month, Enagic holds a seminar at their Torrance office to show how their SD501 provides more value.  Some of what you will learn are on this link:

http://www.thewatertruth.com/cgi-bin/d.cgi/adrian/competition.html

I did read the contents of the website you mentioned below.  This company is showing the work of Dr. Hiromi Shinya.  Dr. Shinya endorses only Kangen water.  I met Dr. Shinya at a Kangen water conference last June 27, 2009!

It is always good to do your due diligence but allow me to help you save your hard earned money and your valuable time.  Check out this website again:

Hi There,

Can you comment on the science of the unit I referenced?

Also do you sell the Kangen units?

Here is another product which is great that I have http://www.quantumagewater.comIt's made from high matrix minerals which increase the absorption of water in your body by 27% + and it's harminizes the water and energetically balances it cause you to have a better ora. You cannot make hydration claims without approval from the US Government and this has passed to make their claims as crazy as it may seem to those out of tune with energy and the science of it. When your photo is taken with Kirlan photography your ora is greatly increase with after consuming the water sitrred with that wand for 20 seconds. It showcased at a Medical event in Las Vegas a few years ago.

OK. I have VERY strong opinions about alkalinized water. The people who tell you that you need to 'Alkalinize' your body, then tell you that drinking water with a squeeze of lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and also Kombucha Tea are 'alkalinizing'. How can that be when those things are purely acid. Then they tell you to drink alkaline water for the same effect!

The body runs in a VERY tight range with the blood between 7.35 and 7.45. Anything out of this range, you are VERY sick- like in the ICU kind of sick.

Dr. Weston Price debunked the myth of 'alkalinizing' when he spent many years traveling around the world studying the diets of many groups of people that had no contact with the outside world. These people, nearly all of them with perfect health, perfect teeth and no chronic health problems has completely varied diets- some of them very VERY alkaline and some were VERY acidic.

The Masai in Africa at that time ate almost nothing but Milk, Meat and fresh cow's blood. Virtually no vegetables or greens at all. Their diet is considered extremely acidic, yet they were in PERFECT health and extremely healthy and athletic, often growing to nearly 7 foot in height!

Don't waste your money. Getting rid of processed foods and allergenic grains will do the same thing without the $1000 price tag.Drink water with a squeeze of lemon and that will 'alkalinize' you just as well. Read my commentary on an alkaline diet on my blog:

I just purchased 2 lifte ionizer systems, one for home and one for the office.  I love them.  The water tastes great and it has a uv light system that kills bacteria and viruses.  I drink alkalized water all day and to my knowledge it has one of the highest ORP values which is a measure of its antioxidant power.

According to http://www.chargedforlife.com/faq.html#q3 Charged for Life

Q. Does this process remove chlorine and fluoride from tap water?

A. Our taste tests do suggest that this is possible. However simple tests kits are available on the www to establish base lines, and upper and lower limits. We suggest that individuals test their tap water themselves to determine if they themselves, their children and grandchildren are getting suitable amounts of these chemicals in their tap water. Any pool supply store will test water samples for chlorine and The 3M Corp. offers fluoride test strips for about $32.00 (incl. S&H).

No ionizer to my knowledge will completely "clean" the water of contaminants.  I too was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and have treated it "alternatively".  At this point, my condition is being referred to as low-grade fibrocystic breasts.  One of the things I did was first filter the water and then send it through the ionizer.  However, if you are using well water, water distiller or a Reverse Osmosis machine you would need to check with the company you purchase the ionizer from so they can help you remineralize or clean your water before it goes through your ionizer.

And, the reason Kangen water is so expensive is because it is a MLM company that pays 8 levels down.  See Kangen water vs. other ionizers.  Personally, I purchased the Juipiter system that is recommended by many doctors.  I'm happy with my purchase and the price was considerably less than Kangen (Enagic brand).  For example, the Melody is 65% less than the Kangen model I was considering.  This link may help you with your research.

I hope this is helpful to you.

Hi Kerri,

Alkaline water does NOT go directly to your blood stream.    Yes, the blood pH has a very tight range.  If it did go beyond by +/- 0.2, you would end up in a comma.

There are several people who debunk alkaline ionized water.  Most notable is Stephen Lower, a retired Chemistry teacher from Canada.

In Dr. Stephen Lower's ionizer debunk page, everything he says there about the science of water ionization is TRUE.  Although Dr. Lower has unquestionable knowledge on the physical chemistry of ionized water, he is in no position and has no experience with ionized water when it is consumed by humans and animals. There are other experts in the health and wellness field, most notably members of the Association of Preventive Medicine for Adult Diseases.  There are 6,500 doctors and physicians in that organization.

There are also a lot of small and large animal breeders that have started using alkaline ionized water for their champion breeds.  This phenomenon is more believable because animals do NOT have the placebo effect.  My pet Pluto only drinks alkaline ionized water.  His 13 year old Bichon Frise friend, Muffy, has also been able to climb up the stairs and hop on the bed after two weeks on the water.  Muffy's owner did buy the ionizer as a result!

Do not invest $3,980 if all you want is alkaline water.  You can add a pinch of baking soda to your water before you drink it.  There is also a best time to drink alkaline ionized water.  It is the first moments after you wake up when your stomach is empty and the gastric juices are at the lowest level.

However, there is more to pH in alkaline ionized water.  There is microclustering - 3 to 6 molecules of water in a cluster, compared to 25 to 100+ in regular tap water.  What that means is that you can get hydrated at a cellular level.  This microclustering property is so easy to prove and you do not need a PhD to learn it.  Compare the results of how green tea steeps in tap water versus alkaline ionized water.  You will not get any tea color out in your tap water unless you boil your tap water. On the other hand, you can make up to 20 cups of tea using room temperature alkaline ionized water!

You can also get antioxidants from your alkaline water in the form of the hydride ion. The hydride ion has two extra electrons, giving this hydrogen ion a negative charge. This is also called Active Hydrogen.  You can also measure this property with a common Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) meter that your pool technicians and sanitation engineers use.  Alkaline ionized water has a value of -100 to -800 milliVolts.  The cheaper brands generate water with -100 to -200 milliVolts.  The best ionizer generates up to the maximum measureable -800 millVolts.  You want to borrow an ORP meter to test your ionizer.  A lot of people have been scammed and are getting ionizers that can generate only -100 to -200 milliVolt. Unwittingly, they have paid $2K to $3K for it when there is a good ionizer for $1,280 that gives the same or better quality and performance.

Most people who bought water ionizers usually get results.  Those who don't fall under one or two categories (or both):

1. They have usually NOT been drinking enough.  One needs to drink a MINIMUM of half an ounce per pound of body weight.  If you are 100 lbs, drink 50 ounces.  If you are 200 lbs, drink 100 ounces.  In plain language that is 2 super big gulps (2 x 64 ounces) for the average 200 pound person.

2. They have not been regularly cleaning their ionizer.  If the ionizing chamber is calcified, the ionizer cannot produce stable antioxidants in the water like when you first used it out of the box.  You need to run the acidic water cycle EVERY day for about 3 to 5 minutes.  This reverses the polarity of the ionization plates and dislodges the calcium build up from the plates.  You also need to run the acid cleaning cartridge every 3 months or as often as your ORP measurements will require you to.  If your ORP deteriorates to -600 milliVolts, you want to do the acid cartridge cleaning.  If you own an ionizer, you need to own a separate ORP meter to monitor your water quality.  Do not buy an ionizer that has a built-in ORP meter because the meter electrode is fragile and breaks easily.

The best way to prove or disprove whether alkaline ionized water is a scam or not - is just to try the water.  Give it a try for 21 days at the amount of 2 super big gulps (2 x 64 ounces) per day.  It is only water!
