I would research vaccine exemptions, religious if you're not "allergic" to anything in the vaccines. If I could go back I would have gotten some kind of waiver or exemption before I joined the AF. The thing is about the military, you're not only shot up with the "routine" vaccinations but you get shots they won't tell you what they are and there's no documentation of them either. I know I read somewhere that you can't get exempt while you're IN but you can before you sign those papers and not get shot up in the military. Just google military vaccine exemptions and see what you find.

Hurry up and do back to your recruiter and tell him you will NOT join the navy unless you are exempt from vaccines.  Depending on what state you are in, religious waivers could be as simple as writing a statement and signing, others you need to send in.  GO GET ONE.  Have it with your file!  If your recruiter says...it's too late, he's lying and/or has no idea what he is talking about.  However, if you are already at boot camp, it's too late.  Have you sworn in yet?  Still not too late.  Go now.  The military is the gov't's guinea pig!  Too many vaccines will be tested on you.

OK SOUNDS GREAT! I  have not signed anything yet not even taken the ASVAB, so first I will tell the recruiter that I will not join unless there is an exempt form for vaccinations and see what he says. If he says that I need a medical practitioners written consent to decline, what then? If I might ask...

PS Thanks for the help!!:-)

I was in the Air Force. When shots were being given.  They said, "whoever is against them, stand in this circle."  Nobody including myself did.  While I was in, word came down that that circle no longer existed.  The last time I was told to take the flu shot, I just ignored it.  I took my chances at getting an article 15 rather then that shot.

The recruiter will ask you if you had any of the following diseases.  If so, you will not have to have the shot.  You can say yes you had all of them.

Also look at your state's exemptions.  There is medical, religious and philosophical reasons not  to take it.  See if your state allows any of those.  Put it in writing, signed and nortorized.  Make sure it is in your records.  My understanding is that you will not be allowed to go oversees unless you had shots.  So jobs may be limited also.
