Last Winter, I went through a period where I had to fall asleep with liquids by my bedside, as I was experiencing great thirst at night, but what was also strange was that I had to get up several times a night to relieve myself as well. I did not know it at the time, but these are 2 of the 3 classic symptoms of diabetes. After doing some web research, I decided to see an MD, and get some tests done. My first MD was a disaster. He took the tests, but it was not until I actually SAW the results with my eyeballs that I saw the glucose was in the diabetic range. He didn't even bother to tell me. So, I found another MD. He confirmed the diagnosis some more blood testing, and while pitching Metfornin, also started pitching statins and a thyroid hormone. I told him that a sample set of 1 indicates nothing, really, and would follow up with a retest in 3 months.
After the next round of tests 3 months later, his statement to me was that "He had never seen anything like it...".
The H1C went from 10.9 to 6.1 My weight went from 240 to 219, and my blood pressure dropped to 110\78 (down from 130\80).
I attribute this to following the nutritional typing at Mercola, and eating accordingly. I have included the Krill Oil, coconut oil, and where I can, raw milk and butter into that diet. For the weight loss (which has been stubborn and resistant to earlier attempts to control it via nutrition and exercise) I used the homeopathic HCG protocol from enlita.com. I lost 21 lbs in 26 days, and while it was structured as far as eating was concerned (500 cal a day) it was not hard.
I will do a further round of this in 6 weeks to get closer to my target weight. I am also scheduled for more testing in 3 months. At that time I expect that I will no longer classify as "diabetic" according to the "official" standards. It will be interesting to see what happens at that point, because as far as I can tell, the MD's have no 'exit strategy' for patients once they are 'classified' other than death.....we will see.
I want to thank Dr. Mercola, and all involved for making the information available and accessable. This is an invaulable service, and I have benefitted greatly.
