Hi Jane,

I just started the hcg diet. I am on day 4 of phase 2, which is the low calorie part of the plan. I am so far having no success with it, unfortunately, but it's too early in the process to call the whole thing a failure. Although I've followed the food list exactly, when I add up the calories, it's more like 650 or so. Not sure how they get the 500 calorie figure! The injections are the easy part. The hard part is the hunger I feel at least half the time--really growling and sometimes nauseated. I have been following Mercola's nutritional type plan for years, exercising, etc, and still have gained 35 pounds over the past 5 years. My naturopath says my thyroid and adrenals are not functioning, and we can't seem to find anything to get them started again.

So, I am hoping the hcg will give my hypothalamus a kick in the butt, and soon. But for now, it's very frustrating and difficult. Hope to have a better experience to report in a week or two. My doc says she has had great results with this diet, both personally and with her patients whose metabolisms have been low for years.

Hi Valerie,

I have been on the HCG diet for 29 days, and have lost over 16#'s.  I urge you to keep at it.  I, too, was a bit nauseated and hungry in the beginning.  I promise you that both of those problems will go away.  The hunger was gone after the first week, and I am NEVER hungry anymore.  In fact, sometimes I have a hard time finishing all the food!  My daughter lost 75#'s in two 40-day rounds on this diet, so I know it works.  Hopefully it is what yo need to get your thyroid and adrenals started again.  Good luck!

Ellen S.

Hi Jayne,

I'm 64 years old and have tried everything to drop the weight I put on during menopause and nothing has worked, I started on the HCG drops August 8th and I have lost 23 pounds and am in my first day of the maintenace. I can tell you that you have to be ready to go on a 500 calorie diet and stick to it or you are wasting your time and money. I went to Amazon and got Linda Pinsters books one with recipes and one with tips and they have helped so much with different ideas on how to prepare food that taste pretty good and is within Dr. Simeons protocol and it makes it much easier.

I drink 3 quarts of water a day, and when you have a day that you don't drop, the 6 apples in one day knocked out two pounds, or the two hard boiled eggs and a big thick steak really do help to get you moving and dropping again, you have to remember you didn't gain weight over night and you won't loose it over night but so far this is the best thing I have found to help me, I have had some cravings for bread and sweets but I put it out of my mind and remember I'm doing this for a good reason to be healthy and look better so far I have managed to not eat anything I'm not supposed to.

Once you drop the weight you want you just have to be sensible and not go nuts and eat all the junk that got you in this shape in the first place, I feel you have to be determined and strong and hang in there for the duration on this diet and it will work if you will let it.

I will go another round of 23 days to drop another 25 pounds and by then my stomach should be shrunk and it shouldn't be so bad, just have to remember to eat sensible and eat less and not stuff myself.

Good luck to you, an I got the drops rather then the shots and they were less expensive at www.thehcgdrops.com

To  Sandra...

Now I am really struggling on about day 6-7. I am considering the drops instead of injection.

Is it true that you feel better overall on the drops? Can you list for me the benefits of drops over

the injectable? Any  and all info re drops is so appreciated! (plus I am not losing like I did the

last time I did this program)

Many thanks~

Please remember that weight loss, is a combination of fluid loss, muscle and fat loss. If you lose too much, it's not healthy.

500 calories a day for a extended period of time is not healthy and you WILL rebound and it doesn't matter what drugs you take.

Healthy weight loss calculation is:  10 x your lean body mass (lean body mass is your current weight minus your percentage of body fat).

Don't over do, the exercise but this will deplete your muscle..

Long term weight loss is to preserve muscle tissue, even build some and stay very consistent (compliant) with your clean eating habits.

If you want more advice, please contact me.

I don't want more advice, but I do want to respond.  My daughter lost 75# on the HCG Diet.  She felt great, had lots of energy, and was not hungry.  And, she has maintained her loss for about 6 months now.  She has several friends and relatives who have also lost substantial weight with this diet, and are maintaining their weight loss also.  I have done one round of HCG, and lost a total of 22#'s.  I too felt great and was never hungry.  I have had no trouble maintaining the loss during the six-week in-between-rounds period.  I think it is VERY important to realize that different things work for different people, and it is important to be able to "think outside the box".
