Has anyone experience with this Human Chorionic Gonadotropin diet where you get HCG injections and a 500 cal/day diet? I am interested in doing this but would like to know from anyone that's done it if it works as they say it does. Thanks

I have done hcg five times.  It works to take off the weight, but it doesn't fix my problem of overeating once I'm done with the hcg.  It doesn't fix my cravings.  So it works but then it doesn't work.  Sorry for the ify response, but it's my most honest opinion on hcg.

Hi Jayne - My name is Gail and I have been on the HCG diet now since June 25, 2009 - 35 days and have 26.5 lbs.  I am so thrilled with the results. I have gone from a size 16 to 10!  One thing for sure is you must be ready to lose the weight - I am almost done with the first phase and I am confident that I am strong willed enough to keep to the program.  I have heard that most do not succeed after the loss, and I hope I am not going to be in that catagory. (I refuse to go back to those old clothes!!)  I have eaten out several times and just ask for what I can eat. Most places can accomodate - Some days I stayed the same and some only 1/2 lb would come off. Buy, hey - it works....Best of luck on your decision

All clinical trials done on HcG and weight loss have shown no better weight loss than placebo. If you can stick to the 500 calories a day, you are bound to lose weight. A better strategy is to get Dr. Mercola's Take Control book and follow those much healthier guidelines to lose weight. Get rid of gluten, dairy, soy, corn and you'll lose weight AND you'll be healthy and nourished!

My daughter started this diet the end of February.  She has done two rounds and lost 75 pounds.  She has reached her goal, and done her three weeks of maintenance.  She feels great, and looks great too.  Her biggest weakness has always been sweets, but she says she can't eat much sugar anymore.  Can't explain that.  It remains to be seen if she can keep the weight off.

I just started the program last week, so it is too soon to see much results, but I feel great and most importantly, I am not hungry.  I think the biggest problem is going to be boredom with the food, so I am actively looking for "legal recipes".  I would like to lose about 80 pounds, so I am planning on two rounds.

I would love to hear from someone who has not only lost the weight, but has kept it off for at least a year.  Is there anyone like that out there?

I lost 55 pounds total with hcg and that was in 2007-2008 and have gained back 20 pounds so I'm not one of the success stories with hcg.  I'm thankful that I've still kept off 30 pounds but that is a daily struggle also.

Once again proving that there is no magic formula.  My daughter's friend lost 25 pounds over a year ago and has kept it off while supposedly eating pretty much whatever she wants.  I find that hard to believe.  Oh well, I am going to give it my best shot.

Azwannabe, hcg might work for you.  I don't think it works for everyone.  It's not a one size fits all kind of diet.  If your metabolic type is protein then hcg is not for you because it's mainly carbs that you're eating.  The only protein you get is 3.5 ounces for lunch and 3.5 ounces for dinner.  I'm a protein type and it was not enough protein for me.  I did not feel well on this diet.  But my friend who is a carb type did very well on hcg.  She lost 60 pounds and has kept it off for about 6 months. She felt great on hcg.  You will never know until you try.  Good luck to you.

Thanks for the response, PinkyDog.  I weighed myself this morning, and I have lost 9#'s.  So far, I have not been hungry at all.  I have started an online journal, in case your interested in following my progress.  You can find it at:  sassybubbe.livejournal.com.   You'll have to copy and paste the address into your browser.  I plan on posting to it daily and including my meals.  I'm still looking for creative "legal recipes" to fight boredom with the food.  Got any?

I first heard about the diet from my daughter, who lost 75#'s on it.  Then I read Kevin Trudeau's book, The Diet They Don't Want You to Know About.  However, you can find it online by Googling either "Dr. Simeon's Protocol", or "Pounds and Inches" by Dr. Simeon.  Getting the HCG is another story.  You can order it online without a prescription, but I wouldn't recommend it.  It comes from India and I don't trust it.  The best of all worlds is to get a dr. to prescribe it (not easy to do), and get it filled at a local pharmacy.  I got mine from WalMart.  Good luck.

I am following Dr. Simeon's original manuscript, and yes it is tru that you don't eat breakfast.  You can have you lunch fruit or breadstick for breakfast if you want.  I have started an online journal, if you care to read it.  I plan on posting to it on a daily basis. It is at sassybubbe.livejournal.com.

I have not lost the weight yet, but I sure don't like to exercise.  My daughter has not exercised one bit, though she is quite active at her business, running up and down stairs a lot.  Exercise certainly won't hurt, but my understanding is that it is not necessary.
