I have been receiving the yearly flu vaccine for my entire life, due to my autoimmune diseases (I also have Celiac disease, which is an allergy to gluten products). Since joining Dr. Mercola's email newsletter, I have been learning how bad yearly vaccines are. Now with the big bad Swine flu abounds, I have decided that I am not getting the swine vaccine. Anyways, I want to start taking Vitamin D supplements but want to get my levels checked first. I need some advise on the best route to do this cost wise. Should I do it through my diabetes clinic?

I live in the Chicago IL suburbs, if that helps.

I hope somebody can help me, as I am in new territory.

You said that docs are using drugs that just mask unstead of correct the receptiveness of our lipids. What do I do to change this? I am on insuline,(two types) as well as glucaphage. I am taking a cholestrol reducer as well which I take every other day. It makes me ache. To date all natural things have not worked. That being said, I also truly believe that God has all the natural healing herbs here on earth for us to be healthy.

All my adult life I have watched my weight, working out with weights as well as aerobics. (though it is alot harder these days, I just don't have the drive I used to) The Dr. I am seeing really wants me to be healthy, but I sure would rather do it naturally if possible. As he says, "looking at you...you should not have diabetes, the gene pool got you" My dad is type 2, my son type 1. 205lbs may seem as if I am over weight and I would feel better without the 23lbs I have gained since going on insuline. My chest is 46 in. and I have 16 3/4 in arms, neck and calves. My waste is 34 in.

I am a 16 year old male with type 1 diabetes living in Canada. I recently became very keen to vanilla Soy Milk , and I find my self drinking about half a carton a day.I recently did a search online to see if Soy Milk had any dangers, and I found alot of things, which made it very confusing to find an answer. I also saw Dr.Mercolas video on youtube about the dangers of Soy.

I am not so much concerned as how it will effect me as a diabetic as to how it will effect me in general. Obviously, half a carton is not generally considered "drinking in moderation". So my main questions are..

What is the REAL scoop on Soy Milk.. How will it effect my health in general?
How much is too much?
I have read that there is an estrogen mimicing hormone. Will this stunt my growth at all, or even (this may be a stupid question), cause fat to grow in my chest area?
I have also read that Soy Milk lowers sperm count. If it does indeed do this, how big is the effect, and could this potentially destroy my chances of having children in the future?

Thanks,
Taylor.

Is Type 2 Diabetes Hereditary?

My dad was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a few years ago.
A relative of mine has been 'diagnosed' as pre-diabetic:

What is the true diet/excercise recommendation? I'm researching here, but I feel it would be quicker to pull from a knowledge group of more than 'me'

Thanks for any/all suggestions and the like!

Nutritional Typing and Pre-Type II Diabetes, Weight Loss

I just completed the nutritional typing test online, and according to the results, I am a Mixed Type. How do I know this is an accurate assessment? A number of the questions did not seem to relate to my situation, and I would have answered "none of the above" had that been an option. I indicated on my test that my main concerns were weight loss and dealing with a pre-diabetic condition. Will following the food plan for mixed type help me with weight loss and control of my blood sugar? I think I need more information on how this works! If I try this "plan" for the 60 days, do I re-assess my "type" by retaking the test at some point? And if I do, do I have to pay for it again? I am worried that all that protein (as given in the sample menu plans) may have an adverse effect on my kidneys, and all the cheeses and fats an adverse effect on my cholesterol levels.

Type 2 Diabetes

Is there anyone out there working with Type 2 diabetes that is on the mixed plan? I am interested to know how it has affected your blood sugars and if you have been able to loose weight or reduce your medications over time on the plan.
