question: I have two full bowel movements a day, but the stool is hard I have to strain .yet I do consume fiber in the form of oatmeal at breakfast and green and other vegetables. What to do? I am thinking that i don't drink enough water? When i was following the Microbiotic diet, my stool was softer and floating.

I have not eaten meat for years, being a vegetarian. So since I do well with fish I plan to consume both cod , salmon, sardines , etc I order from Vitalchoice.com

This plan is a drastic switch from Microbiotics. I am willing to give it a try. I have not had a yearly blood test ( I loath the medical establishment) for past two years, but perhaps in a few months will try again...to assess if this diet changed some of the "numbers" regarding cholesterol.

I am a lot better now. It
took me YEARS to figure this out. Here is what has helped me.

1. This is the biggest help of them all is Kefir. I have tried every
probiotic on the planet and while helpful non have the effect of Kefir. I use
the real grains that reproduce. The Kefir is mucus producing but mucus
producing in a good way. It seems to lubricate. Here is a link to get the
grains http://www.torontoadvisors.com/Kefir/kefir-list.php Bone Broths
seem to have a lubricating effect as well although less obvious than Kefir and obviously
don't get the good bacteria

2. Eat a Protein Type diet - but I don't have raw veggies (or even cooked)
each meal. I do at least once a day but every meal seems to aggravate. I have a
lot of Raw Milk and Egg Yokes on days my body needs a rest from more solid
food.

3. Walk before I need to go to the bathroom. I do a half an hour walk four
days a week. But the thing that "sends the message" to go is that I
do like a 2 minute walk before I want to go. So I just walk up and down the
stairs at my house or walk to my car if I am at work. If you notice kids and
animals will run before they have to go to the bathroom. I have learned though
if I can't go not to stress about it. Trying to go if I can't hurts my
intestines. The Kefir gives me the confidence to just wait till the next day

4. I also use about 3 teaspoons of Acacia powder a night.

I know each person reacts differently but I hope this helps.

I am a mixed type but have had this problem of poor digestion/elimination for a while actually. I just cannot seem to get regular and it's frustrating because I think I'm eating very good. I feel like I'm doing everything right but my body is saying nope. I drink plenly of water and exercise all the time too. Also, I always bloat up and can just feel bubbles moving through the GI track. Its very uncomfortable.

I've tried to come up with reasons why I've been having this problem. First, I felt that I wasn't actually eating enough becuase I eat so many raw, bulky foods that I get full fast. 2) Not enough fiber?

Any help would be wonderful!

Tschau!

Doesn't the body feel the diet is right ?

Or does it simply mean that the body has to get used and in this case it's only a temporary issue?

I have been eating mostly organic for the last two years I am just starting this metabolic diet (I have just accepted the fact that fruits don’t sit well with me). Here is the problem. My body is sending me mixed messages concerning elimination. I am currently fighting the following issues:

Hemmoriods
Ulcers
Large Intestine Pain
Constipation

I use Acacia Powder from www.helpforibs.com It gets me to go twice a day. I take two teaspoons. That relieves constipation. However when I go twice it hurts my Hemmoriods.

I took Magnesium as a laxative for about a month which helped tremendously with the Large Intestine Pain (Bottom of intestine hurts when stool is too hard) But I am confident it made my ulcers worse because I had more pushing and was the catalyst for the hemorrhoid getting a lot worse. I have sense stopped with the Magnesium.

Long story short I start fix one thing and the other breaks. Should I have more fiber or less??????? I have the discipline to stay with something if I think it will work.

Side Notes
- I walk daily and exercise if I not in to much pain
- I do take probiotics
- I do take digestive enzymes
- I believe 15 years of Prilosec usage caused these issues. I just weaned off it last month. I still need Maloox and Tagament though

Thanks for your help.

No more Gluten?

I just took the rather disappointing Nutrional Type Test and it prompted me that I'm Mixed Type, and should take Gluten out of my diet for 60 days.

I love bread. One of them was about digestion and he mentioned that the way meat is digested is that it has to "rot" in the intestine. (He therefore recommended limiting meat consumption and eating more fruits, vegetables and complex carbohydrates.) I have heard this before and am wondering what is the truth about how the body digests meat? Or does it depend on one's MT?

Marcia

urine odor

I have just begun the MT plan only two days so far. I am a protein type. I am noticing a strong odor in my urine like ripe grapes or sweet smell. Is this normal?

Cleansing Reaction?

Recently I've been feeling very strange and I have a feeling that what I am experiencing is a cleansing reaction, but I want to be sure.

I started taking the Probiotics Plus about a week ago and I also started drinking about a cup of home-made raw milk Kefir a day.

My digestion has been very irregular. Sometimes I'll have constipation, sometimes diarrhea. Sometimes my stools will come out in many small pieces.

My energy has been erratic. At certain times in the day, I will be so tired that it is difficult for me to do anything, but sit in bed. At other times, I will have so much energy I feel like I have to do some intense exercise just to work it off.

I have cravings for very strange foods. I ate nearly 20 oranges (mainly just the juice and very little pulp) last night because that was all I wanted. It seems that several hours later, the oranges cleaned me out very well.

I feel like my oxidation rate has slowed (I was originally typed as a fast oxidizing protein type). I have very little interest in fatty meats. I could probably be classified as a mixed type right now or even a carb type. I have cravings for lasagna so I've been eating that almost exclusively along with the oranges.

My plan at this point is to continue taking the Probiotics Plus and the Kefir and following my cravings to help my body get through this cleansing. Is this the right course of action? If you have any tips or insights on what is going on with my body at this point, they would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

However, if I eat meals with mostly just vegetables, meat and raw dairy, my bowel movements are loose.

I'm a fast oxidizing protein type. I feel that grains may not be optimal for me. Do you have any ideas about good types of fiber to add to my diet?

Thanks,

I hope I am not crossing the line with this question. I was wondering if you could tell me what the formation of an ideal stool should be. Is it different for different types? I recall this being a question on the test.

Since I have been adhering to my Protein type diet there has been a change in my stool formation. Probably from what conventional teaching would say was reasonably healthy to a less than healthy formation. Is this an indication of a wrong macronutrient ratio?

I am more than happy to provide details if needed but again I didn't really want to cross the line - until I know it is alright!

Look forward to your response.

Thanks

At first I thought it was a result of the 2 teaspoons of ground flax seeds I had for the first time in years but I think it has gone on too long for that.
Every time I put something into my stomach I get a pain very soon after and need to visit the toilet.
I started the diarrhoea, after breakfast (which was the lamb, green beans and tahini,) on Wednesday but I have been drinking warm water. I eat breakfast at 5:30am and by 1pm my blood sugar was really low and I was getting ratty with the kids at school so I ate my packed lunch which was raw shrimp, cauliflower and olives with olive oil. I then felt really bad with more pain etc.
I did EFT for nearly an hour but nothing shifted.

I can't find any pro-biotics here. One guy said he will get more acidofilus next week but no-one here keeps it in the fridge anyway. Kuwait is a small place so between me looking and asking I have exhausted the country.
I haven't eaten anything since except I received the coconut oil and so
have been having spoonfuls throughout today. this doesn't seem to have
any adverse effect.
The temperature is 98F so between the heat and the chills I've been experiencing I've been sweating a lot.
I'm unsure about drinking water. Do I keep doing that to flush myself out and keep myself hydrated? Or do I give my insides a rest? Yesterday I drank a lot but today I have not been drinking as much as I normally do.

That leg of lamb I cooked seems to be going to waste as I live on my own.
I would appreciate any advice.
Patricia
Elimination for a Carbo Type

Hi .. am totally new at this MT. I read some on the
internet and it made sense to me. So I took the test and
have only started following the carbo type plan today.

I have had problems with constipation my whole life .. do all the right
things ... have found that several tbsp of ground flaxseed per day is
what works best for me. Carbos are supposed to eat
nuts and oils very sparingly ... so what are some other
alternatives? I've always eaten lots of fresh fruit and
veggies daily.

Thanks.
Am wondering if you could give us some MT guidelines about the other
common fibers that are useful for elimination and also absorption of
toxins
(I read that bran is a high purine food...true dat? and if so which bran...oat, wheat etc. ?)

So in addition to your ground flax, are there any other fibers that are recommended for us high purine types?

Any that we should avoid?

Thanks so much.

This was not an issue when I was a vegetarian. I cannot take any product with physillium husk due to trigeminal neuralgia. Two tablespoons flaxseed are included daily in my diet and fruit is limited to 1 or 2 servings daily.
