Dear Glen,
The only source of free range beef I have found in local health food
stores is at Trader Joes. It also states it is antibiotic and hormone free.
Is the fact that this product is from New Zealand an issue? New Zealand has
a good reputation when it comes to food but it seems like quite a distance
for meat to travel.
Thanks,
Dan
Hello Dan,
New Zealand beef from Trader Joe's has a very good reputation and I include this as one of the quality products that I would use.

SC
I am working on a beef herd (small) Started with 10 heifers . Have 8 lil bulls.Very lil grain , they look great.Working on controled graizing and quality grass . The grain helps to handle them.Probbly bought 500 ibs. in 6 months. They all look great so far.No antibiotics unless needed. What you don't understand is if one has pinkeye you have to give antibiotics. If one has scours you have to give it.If one is getting sink from temperature change you have to give it.So far I have given antibiotics to one cow(pinkeye) and one lil bull , scours . (To be a steer witch means meat on your table) I would not sell that steer as never had antibitics but when they refer to that they are talking about feeder calves get antibiotics so when there system is changed from mainly grass to grain they give large doses to keep from getting sick. Our food system really sucks . Neighbor raises turkey and they are on somthing all the time. It does not matter how sick the birds are , if they get to the slaughter house , live to be butchered .The farmer gets paid for the bird & you pay for the bird and eat it. Happy Thanksgiving
