I was told to purchase a juicer to help my poor immune system and other health issues. I would love input on which juicer anyone recommends and the reasons why. thank you so much.
I have the Omega Juicer, the stainless steel model. I have been using it for several months, works fine, no problems. If I were buying one now I think I might get one of the Green Star juicers. They are more efficent and cost about $100 more than the Omega. Dr. M sells the Omega.
Good luck with your juicing.

If you search on Dr. Mercola's site he recommends the Braun MP80 from Amazon.com for about $70.
"It does not make any sense to purchase a good juicer if you are not going to use it. I normally recommend that you purchase an inexpensive or used juicer if you are starting out as a trial to see if juicing is for you. You can actually get great deals at many garage sales. Like fitness equipment, many people buy juicers with good intentions, but wind up not using them. Another option for an entry level juicer is the Braun MP80 Juice Extractor that can be ordered from Amazon.com for about $70. It is not a good option for daily juicing since the motor will burn out and it will have trouble juicing leafy green vegetables."

The price must have gone up, it ranges from $100 to $159 (Amazon) and is 6,000 rpm's. I checked Jack LaLanne's site and his low model one is $99 and is 3,000 rpm's (the lower the better)...

I've been juicing daily for about 5 years now. I've tried several different juicers; Omega, Juiceman, Green Star, Champion. There are proponents of the masticating (i.e. Champion, Green Star) juicers that say the juice maintains it's electrical charge, or that the juice can be kept longer and the produce doesn't oxidize as quickly. I've found that the clean-up time for those juicers has almost killed it for me though, and find the evidence of their merrit to be lacking. I've also run a few independant tests, and, contrary to what the masticating manufactureres say, the centrifugal juicers seem to produce more juice out of a given amount of veggies. The centrifugal juicers weak point is they don't juice grasses, so if wheat or barley grass juicing is something you want to explore, you'll need a masticating juicer.
The Breville Elite is hands-down the best juicer I've ever used. It has a huge throat for quick juicing, and a powerful motor. Cleaning is quick, and it takes me about 10 minutes to clean the produce, juice it and clean the juicer. Once you get a system, it's as quick as a gut-clogging bowl of cereal, and it'll make you feel great.
Even though in a perfect world, you wouldn't use fruit, I would recommend that you begin with an apple and at least a few carrots in your mixes. Also, be careful of the cruciferous veggies. Make sure in the beginning you use them sparingly and increase as your taste buds adjust. They can really take over the flavor of the juice, and quickly make it offensive, leading to the demise of the healthiest thing you can do for yourself. As you become used to the taste of mixed juice, begin backing off the amount of apple, then reduce the number of carrots, and slowly increase the greens. If you do this over the course of a month, you'll be drinking a super-healthful blend of mostly veggies. A half of a lemon and a 1/4 inch of ginger can also really help to create a more pallatable juice.
In my opinion, juicing is the best single thing you can do for your health.
