I read the very interesting article about all the benifits tumeric might provide.  In looking to purchase some in capsules I have found many potencies and suggested amounts to take.  Do you have a suggestion?  I am looking for a result for my fathers extreme arthritis pain.

Turmeric is one of many natural substances that may help with arthritis. Dosage is an individual matter which can only be discovered through experimenting. Your father might find it more beneficial to cut out all polyunsaturated fats in his diet and especially vegetable oils, and ramp down on carbohydrates and in particular those of the grain variety.

Turmeric is a fantastic supplement to reduce inflammation, but be careful because almost all Turmeric is very high in lead.  The major supplier of turmeric cannot guarantee that any of their materials can comply with Prop 65 standards in california.  Of course, Prop 65 is a scam for attorneys, but nonetheless, it's worth noting.

A good dose is 300-600 mg daily of a 95% curcumin extract.

You might get your father to try serrapeptase (generic name) which has good anti-inflammatory properties. It is an enzyme but one that requires to be taken on an empty stomach to be effective. You should find some user's comments at www.smart-nutrition.net or possibly www.iherb.com. Take it at 40,000 units or 25 mgs (same difference) and nothing has to be taken orally except water for an hour afterwards..

I would just get the stuff off the herb rack at the health food store. Then add it to your food. I might add too that it might cause an upset stomach ie not tolerated my some people. Make sure you are getting your omega 3 oils. I would also look at doing things to heal the kidneys and liver. Really the kidney are not filtering out the toxins from the body. I would highly recommend looking at plantcures.com Dr. Gussa might be of help. Might try adding raw apple cider vinegar, Tulsi tea and good probiotics. Doing sea salt baths can be helpful to detox the body info on this site and adding quarter teaspoon of the salt to 3 oz of water is cleansing to the body. For the pain try ginger tea cut quarter inch slice boil in water 5 min. It has aspirin type of effect.
