There are approximately 1,000,000 U.S. Marine (both former & present) men, women, & their families who are being called "Poisoned Patriots." WHY, you are probably asking yourself??? Due to water contamination @ Camp Lejeune from 1957-1987 caused by chemicals used for various purposes, such as dry-cleaning solutions, additives in fuels, or as solvents to dissolve grease or other compounds that leaked into the water supply (main contaminants were trichloroethylene -TCE, tetrachloroethylene -PCE, benzene, dichloroethylene -DCE, methylene chloride and vinyl chloride). The water contamination caused my birth defect, and is suspect in other health issues I have faced & am currently facing (adult onset single-sided deafness & possible autoimmune disease being the worst ones I am trying to deal with at present). It has also caused birth defects of several other babies (such as cleft palates, cleft lip & palate, heart defects, neural tube defects, low birth weight, small for gestational age, etc.), leukemia, lymphoma, liver disorders, miscarriages, stillborn babies, extremely rare cancers in children to seniors, countless other health problems, & several deaths of the other innocent military members & their family members. The biggest tragedy of it all is that not only did the Marines learn of the contamination & do NOTHING, most of the victims still have no idea... no idea what took the life of their baby, caused birth defects & cancer in the babies that managed to survive, left children without a parents or parents, parents without their child or children, husbands without wives, wives without husbands, siblings without siblings, & some without parents or siblings. We have people who have gone through medical trauma after medical trauma, people left with broken hearts over the tragic loss of their precious loved ones, people saddled with medical bills (some with bills in the hundreds of thousands & more)... people with devastation in their lives they may even think THEY created. Like my own mother who spent the last 33+ years of my life believing she somehow caused my rare birth defect & the several years of surgeries, treatments, drugs, & trauma that followed, in addition to the issues I have faced as an adolescent & now as an adult. I am just one woman, & there are so many, many more like me. Don't we deserve some justice?? Don't they deserve to know what happened?? Shouldn't the military who claims "Semper Fi" as their motto, be held to that same standard?? Apparently the government doesn't think so. They need to FORCE the military to inform the victims both in the States & overseas... sooner rather than later, as each moment wasted leaves the chance yet another victim will succumb to the horrible aftermath of the poisoned water, and never even be allowed the dignity or peace of knowing why. "Anyone, whether you were in the military or not and regardless of whether you lived on the base, should file a claim to protect your interest if you were exposed to the highly toxic waters of Camp Lejeune prior to 1986. You can also file a claim on behalf of a relative who died and had any illness related to the contaminated waters of Camp Lejeune."

It is truly amazing & horrifyingly sad what people, companies, the government, etc. get away with... you'd think in THIS day & age of technology, the whistle would be blown, & people would be forced to fess up. It has been over 50 years since the water contamination 1st began, & they have been working HARD to expose it for 11+ years, but what an uphill battle.
That is frightening to think that actually happened w/the beer!!! But, I guess w/everything allowed in our water, food, environment, etc. I should not be shocked!!!

I have heard & read that while there have been other military bases faced w/water contamination, Camp Lejeune has been the worst... I hope & pray others will finally get the answers they deserve!!
