Hi Glenn,

I caught an episode of Oprah! last week where she had a doctor on answering people's embarrassing questions. One of them was about digestion and he mentioned that the way meat is digested is that it has to "rot" in the intestine. (He therefore recommended limiting meat consumption and eating more fruits, vegetables and complex carbohydrates.) I have heard this before and am wondering what is the truth about how the body digests meat? Or does it depend on one's MT?

Hello Marcia,

This would be great if you are a carb type but a disaster for a mixed or protein type.  It is always important to try to achieve a digestive transit time of 18 hours or less to be sure to not have any problems whatsoever with meat consumption.  It not only ties into your MT but also the health of your digestive system.

I remember this episode.  The Dr. also stated that the meat will rot in the intestines if there are no vegetables or fruits to cleanse them away.  So therefore for a protien type it makes evem more sense to eat your veggies after your protien, then you won't have to worry about meat rotting in your intestines.

The transit time is definitely the key.  Keep me posted.
