I've been having loose stools recently and I noticed that it is due to lack of fiber in my diet. When I eat meals with grains, such as rice or noodles, my bowel movements are solid and seem close to optimal. Sometimes lots of peanut butter will also produce good bowel movements. However, if I eat meals with mostly just vegetables, meat and raw dairy, my bowel movements are loose.
I'm a fast oxidizing protein type. I feel that grains may not be optimal for me. Do you have any ideas about good types of fiber to add to my diet?
Thanks,
Jesse
Jesse,
Since you have recently made some significant changes with your nutrition it may take some time for your colon to catch up. You should be getting adaquete fiber from the vegetables that you are consuming and the raw foods that you are eating are also going to help with your colon and digestion overall in the long run. If you would feel more comfortable adding some part three foods that may help with the consistancy of your bowel movements.

Hey Glen,
Can too much fat cause loose stools? I may have been overdoing the raw cream(it tastes so good!).
Hi Jesse,
If you are over consuming fats or not breaking them down optimally this can create a loosening of your stool. One fat that would be encouraged to aid in the health of your colon is raw butter as this is the best nutritional source of butyric acid that has been shown to not only aid in your colon health but this short chain fatty acid is also digested very easily.
I share with you the taste for the raw cream and yes it does taste so good! I would also ask you if your stool floats. If your stool consistently floats you may not be breaking down your fats completely. If you feel that this is a challenge make sure that you are using you digestive enzymes.
