Hi,
I had my gallbladder removed few months ago and I have been told my a nutritionist that I need to take enzymes with every meal....Can you please suggest me a brand that you would recommend? Also, why aren't any enzymes sold in this site?
PS: I am taking now the 'Gold Digest' enzymes which are very expensive; but I honeslty don't know if they are working for me and I want to know if there is a way I can know if those enzymes are being effective!
Thanks,
Ellhame
Hello Ellhame,
I would agree with the enymes but am not particular to any brand. I would look for one the includes ox bile as one of the ingredients though. This will the best aid for breaking down the fat and I would recommend taking 2 every time you eat.
We do have an enzyme product that is being developed and should be ready in the near future.

Thank you for this advice..I thought too that I should take ox bile ( I read about it on this site) but my nutritionist said that I should not worry about that because the enzymes should be enough...
Please can you tell me how can I know if my digestion is doing ok?
Elhame
Hello Elhame,
Ox bile is also an enzyme but it specifically will do the best work with fat.
As far as how your digestion is doing has far too many variables to get into with the forum. I would say that you want the transit time of 18 hours or less from the time you eat your food until this is released in your bowel movement. A good way to test this is to swallow a couple of tablespoons of kerneled corn and log the time it takes to see these visually in the stool. Remember though that this is only transit time and not absorption and assimilation but most with poor transit time are also not digesting well. You could also visit someone that has knowledge in Traditional Chinese Medicine as they typically have assessment tools to address digestion. I use some of these myself.
It is also very fair to say that most with health challenges have poor digestion since so much starts there and based on the past that you have shared I would suggest that you fall into this catagory.
