So, tell me again why I should spend $3000 on it?
I simply do not get it. Maybe there is some microionizing or something going on that is beyond the alkalinizing, but the POINT that everyone is trying to make with it is that Alkalinized Water is better for you than regular water. I've BEEN to one of the sales pitches and they drag out pH paper and soda, tap water etc to PROVE that their water is better for you.
What they do NOT bring out is a glass of water with lemon juice or apple cider vinegar in them- both of which are VERY acidic. And the same people that say that making your body 'alkaline' is good for you, tell you that drinking lemon juice first thing in the morning will 'alkalinize' your body in some magical way that other foods that are acidic do not.
Then Weston Price, who was keen to the acid/alkaline argument, took a sample diets from the PERFECTLY HEALTHY tribal people and tested their diets against the standard western diet and there was virtually NO RELATIONSHIP! Some of the diets were predominantly MEAT AN MEAT PRODUCTS which were HIGHLY ACIDIC. Yet the people were perfectly healthy!!
Then, too, taking 'antacids' which one would presume are alkaline, are terrible for you. And having a consistent low amount of acid in your stomach has been shown to not allow you to absorb calcium and some other nutrients. I also read an article by raw foodist Victoria Boutenko where she talks about green smoothies to INCREASE stomach acid and they tested people before and after drinking green smoothies and they INCREASED their stomach acid.

Which is likely one of the reasons that eating raw foods and green smoothies makes you healthier. Because it INCREASES stomach acid. Stomach acid does a lot of important things, so why do you want to go putting ALKALINE stuff into your stomach. It just really makes no sense.

PS. Being able to make green tea in room temp water just does not necessarily infer any benefits to the drinker of said water. That is not evidence of ANYTHING except that the water will diffuse tea better at room temperature.
Hi Kerri,
If you only want alkalinity in water, keep your $3,000. You can get more alkalinity with a pinch of baking soda in your tap water and will cost you about $0.01 - a penny.
I felt the same way you did when I first was given the "pitch" by a realtor who was doing the demo. It took me a long time to find out (about 5 to 6 months of researching and interviewing people) and countless books after. It took my wife, who is also an RN, another year to understand the concept. An RN friend at work who survived breast cancer told her about how alkaline ionized water saved her life.
Alkaline ionized water has 3 properties:
1. Alkalinity
2. Microclustering - green tea in room temperature effect.
3. Antioxidant property measured in milliVolts as Oxidation Reduction Potential.
Alkalinity in alkaline ionized water is the cheapest property because it can be obtained thru different ways. Alkalinity is also the most misunderstood.
The stomach only has a certain amount of gastic acid and it is maintained around pH 4.0 when not digesting food. When we drink high pH alkaline ionized water, the stomach acid pH increases as a result. How much the pH increases depends on the pH and the amount of alkaline ionized water that we drink.
When the stomach/gastric fluid pH rises about 4.5, the stomach will release more hydrochloric acid to bring back the gastric fluid pH below 4.0
The lemon juice or apple cider vinegar in water has a totally different effect in the body than alkaline ionized water. First of all, these are outright acidic so they do not belong in the demo (as you have noticed). These juice liquids are organic in nature and when added to regular water imparts the organic structure to the water lattice - which improves absorption of the water. Because these juices have minerals and organic compounds made of carbonates and bicarbonates, they eventually - after digestion and metabolism - help in improving alkaline reserves in the form of sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate, calcium bicarbonate and magnesium bicarbonate.
Weston Price's study on "PERFECTLY HEALTHY tribal people" and their highly ACIDIC diets - should be considered in the light of Lifestyle differences. Stress is the number one producer of acidity in the human body. Most people could actually feel the acid burn when they are stressed out. Tribal people just do NOT have the same stressful lifestyles that the typical urban dwellers have.
"PS. Being able to make green tea in room temp water just does not necessarily infer any benefits to the drinker of said water. That is not evidence of ANYTHING except that the water will diffuse tea better at room temperature."
The tea diffusing in alkaline ionized water at room temperature shows you another important property called microclustering (also structured water). This type of water will help in hydration and detoxification at the cellular level. Fiji water, by the way is a good microclustered water because it comes through the rock formations of the aquafer in Fiji. However, at $1 to $2 a bottle, you will easily justify spending $3,980 because that Fiji water will cost you $92,000 (over 15 years for a family of 4 drinking the minimum 1/2 ounce per pound of body weight).
Alkaline ionized water is microclustered. Water molecules (H2O) exist in groups or clusters. Regular water clusters are 15-25 or even up to 100+ molecules of H2O. This phenomenon (dipole-dipole bonding) has been measured by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance equipment. Microclustered water has 3-6 molecules (Kangen).
What this means is very simple. The analogy is a chain link fence for your cell membranes. When you are drinking regular tap water or other beverages, your water clusters would relatively be the size of a baseball or a basket ball that you are trying to get through the chain link fence. When you are drinking microclustered alkaline ionized water, you have water clusters the size of beebee's or marbles that you are throwing at the chain link fence.
The microclustered water, just like the marbles going through the chain link fence, would be going in and out of your cell membranes to 1) hydrate and bring in nutrition to the inner parts of your cells and 2) detoxifies metabolic water at the cellular level. In 2003, the nobel prize for chemistry was awarded for the discovery of aquaporin (water channels of the cellular membrane). Since aquaporins let water through one molecule at a time, starting out with microclustered water with 3-6 molecules will get you more hydrated when you are starting out with 15 to 25 molecule clusters.
I live in Orange County, where there is a lot of beach loving folk. The question here is not whether one should buy an ionizer or not. The question is which ionizer to buy...
The process of buying an ionizer is like buying a car. Cars all have tires, head lamps, tail lights, etc.
Before you buy a car, wouldn't you want to see what is under the hood?
Since the human body is a natural metabolic acid waste generator, you want the water ionizer machine that has 455% more surface area and 300% more electrical power than its cheap competitors. click on the previous link to see the relative sizes of the ionization chamber of different machines.
Sincerely,
Adrian
So, most of what you said makes absolutely no sense at all and none of what you said shows any proof that it helps humans in any way.
1) You say that "In Orange County, where there are a lot of beach loving folk. The question is which ionizer to buy". So, beach loving people have a special need for this machine that others do not? I'm sure that you didn't mean it that way, but maybe it's just because people in "The OC" have a lot more money to throw around and there are good salespeople. Most doctors will tell you that it's not a question of their patients all needing statins, but which statins to give. That means nothing. (Interesting note: I was born and raised in "The OC" and most of my family still lives there. I've not heard ONE PERSON talk about alkalizing water machines when I have been there. And NOT ONE PERSON in my family has one. So, I think that your view is biased on that one.)
2) Because someone discovered channels in cell membranes and water goes through these channels one molecule at a time does not translate to YOUR water makes one more hydrated! That seems like a HUGE jump in logic.
3) The guy who holds a patent (THE patent?) for microclustered water describes a process for "a medicament for the promoting of healing of burns" when the water is combined with aloe vera and vitamin E (both known as substances that help to heal burns) and "a medicament for pain relief of a living organism" when combined with an opiate (which relieves pain), "a medicament for reducing the need for insulin" when combined with chromium (which reduces blood sugar) and a "medicament for treating viral infections" when combined with antiviral drugs.
http://www.google.com/patents?hl=en&lr=&vid=USPAT6033678&id=ci8EAAAAEBAJ&oi=fnd&dq=microclustered+water&printsec=abstract#v=onepage&q=&f=false
In other words, it's a carrier of substances (hmmm, sounds like water).
4) You said that lemon juice does not belong in the demo. Why not? The demo is all about how the alkaline properties make it good for you and everything else that you are drinking is NOT alkaline enough and therefore bad for you. If everything bad for you is acid, and your water is alkaline then it must be good for you. That's the logic that they play on. The only reason lemon water doesn't belong in the demo is that it throws a wrench into that logic.
You also said, "These juice liquids are organic in nature and when added to regular water imparts the organic structure to the water lattice - which improves absorption of the water. Because these juices have minerals and organic compounds made of carbonates and bicarbonates, they eventually - after digestion and metabolism - help in improving alkaline reserves in the form of sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate, calcium bicarbonate and magnesium bicarbonate" That sounds like EXACTLY what you are saying the alkaline water machine does, so why not just drink lemon juice, get some vitamin c in the bargain and skip the $3000
5) If you go to
www.scholar.google.com
That's a clearing house for hundreds of thousands of research studies. It's where I get 99% of the information for my website and for articles that I write. I googled:
Alkaline diet
Alkaline water
Microclustered water
Microstructured water
And there is NOTHING except the patent for Microclustered water. I could not find a single peer reviewed study on the health benefits of alkaline or microclustered water. Not even in MICE!
So, give me something better to go on than the rich people in the OC like to spend their money. I'd be happy to take a look at any unbiased research studies.
Been drinking the water for about a year now and my arthritis is gone along with some of the aches and pains I use to have.Plants love it.I put my roses in the charged water and they last for 9 days befor they start wilting.
Animals go right to it instead of regular tap water. And seem to have a little more pep in there step too.
Then I found out about the reverse in the pularity and how good that is for cleaning.Documented in a article in the Los Angeles Times dated Feb 23 2009 A grime fighter etc.
Then talking to Bill Lang he was saying they have a whole house water system were he has gotten 9.5 pH throughout his whole house. Now that's good drinking water.Soon to be up on there web-site.
HI....
Can I please ask what machine you use? I have bee doing the research for about a year now and I am just getting ready to purchase a machine.
I would love to know your thoughts on what machines/company are the best.
Have an amazing Day.
Thank you, LRH
Hi LRH,
Click on this link to watch a video that compares water ionizer brands.
Email me kangenguru (at) gmail.com before you buy your ionizer.
P.S. I am leaving for Japan tomorrow Nov. 1 to check out the place.
Alkaline water is a good wau to alkalize your body but is not the only way. Green foods a re a great way to alkalize as well. You can visit http://www.optimizednutrition.net This website has great resources on homeopothy, organic certified products and alkaline water. I weary from Enagic, not that they are not legit but MANY of the reps involved come off as an authority in health, repeating only what they are told. As a holistic practioner I am open to options.
There are many alkaline machines on the market. There is'nt one that is the best than any other.....alkaline water is alkaline water and the ORP levels vary from the water source. The Genesis 3000 offers a -ORP of 810 whish is nice. The body responds to a -ORP of 250 and is good enough for healing. Nuff said for now.
Visit: http://www.waterforlifeusa.com/dealer/naturalvitausa or http://optimizednutrition.net/kyk_genesis_water_ionizer.htm You will find this machine excellent as well with a very competative rice.
