Hi,
As a protein type I have been using Pro Optimal Whey frequently for a while now. I have just finished reading the book "Excitotoxins" by Russell Blaylock where he states that "Protease enzymes of various sources can release excitotoxin amino acids from food proteins" Since reading this I have been a bit concerned about using Pro Optimal Whey due to the Protease enzymes it contains. Hoping someone could put my mind at rest.
Many Thanks,
Bobby.
well, my only comments to say about this really are, Dr. Blaylock has made his cornerstone 'excitotoxins' and MSG/free glutamate being the causes of virtaully every disease =]
not to say hes wrong or right, but he does have a costly subscription based newsletter along with a few other signs that suggests he might just be interested in benefitting his pocketbook.
I personally try to avoid MSG's myself as there is some interesting evidence out there and I am not convinced its entirely safe as the FDA as labelled it now. Regarding protein powders, I'd say its a general good rule to defenitely ty to avoid lots of articifical stuff including sweeteners ... about Protease enzymes? These are supposed to be beneficial in treatment of cancer as well as food allergies and some other conditions as well. I do not think there is any real reason to avoid these from the information we know now ...
