I tried to find a list of foods that contain gluten but couldn't find one. Right now, I have been eating spelt tortillas. Are they still OK for a protein type? My guess is no...Thanks, Elena

Elena:

Your guess would be correct!  Wheat, spelt, rye, and barley all contain gluten.  In addition, soy and tamari sauces also contain wheat (unless otherwise specified).  As a protein type, you really want to limit the amount of starchy carbs you consume anyway.  Having said that, I do like the rice tortilla made by "Food for Life" found in the freezer section at "Whole Foods" or other health food stores.  The Celiac Foundation has a complete list of gluten-containing foods on their website.  If you are still unable to obtain a list for some reason, please let us know.

Best of health,

 Judy
