I just completed the metabolic typing test and came up as a mixed type. Looking over the charts, I am confused as to whether I need to make any changes to my morning smoothy. Right now I blend 4 strawberries, 3 heaping tablespoons of blueberries, 1 banana, 1 raw egg, 8 oz of yogurt from raw milk, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of fresh ground flax seed, 1 scoop of protien whey powder, 1/4 cup of coconut chips, and 3 tablespoons of coconut oil. After I finish that, I sip a cup of kefir. About half of these items are on the secondary chart and half are on the primary. What do I need to modify?

Hi Jeff,

I would say that there is a shift needed since your smoothie is almost all secondary foods that would ONLY be used after you consume your primary foods.  This should aid in blood sugar regulation and an overall improved and longer lasting sense of energy.

Start with a flesh protein source such as smoked salmon with a couple of slices of tomato with mozzarella cheese or two sunny side up eggs with celery dipped in a nut butter as examples.  If you wanted a small smoothie after that would be OK but it may not be needed.  Take a look at breakfast suggestions from the meal ideas.
