I have read theories that you should always eat fruit on an empty stomach because it has a faster digestion time than other foods, and if you eat it last it will be sitting in your stomach waiting for the heavier foods to digest. What do you think about this as in Dr. Mercola's plan you should eat fruit last? Thank you.

Hello,

If you are a veggie type, it can be beneficial for you to eat your fruit first-especially citrus fruit.

On the other hand, most mixed and protein types have a greater need for blood sugar stability and overall metabolic balance which requires consuming their most important foods first. i.e. protein types do not burn carbs efficiently into energy and therefore need to eat meat, poultry and fish first at every meal before eating their carbs. A mixed type needs to eat equal amounts of meat, poultry, fish or dairy along with veggies in order to burn their foods efficiently into fuel.

It is not uncommon for individuals who are eating right for their nutritional type to actually experience overall improved digestion.

Thank you. That makes sense. I am a mixed type and love fruit and usually eat a lot of it. I have been suffering with headaches for many years and trying all kinds of ways to get rid of them. Since I have started on this nutritional typing plan, I have taken your advice and eaten fruit after my meals. I have seen an improvement in my headaches and have not taken any medication for over a week! That is a miracle, as there would be times when I would have a headache every day. I have not woken up with a headache, either. Maybe this is the answer!

Thank you, Darcy,

Phyllis

Hello Phyllis,

Congratulations on your progress, this is wonderful news. Headaches are often related to blood sugar instability. Keep up the great work!
