Hello Dr. Mercola,

First I'd like to thank you for changing my life.  I've been to your last conference and I'm always amazed at how much I learn and at how much more I need to learn.

I have been on a health journey these last few years due to the fact that I'm always getting sick and I'm not enjoying life the way God intended.

I recently learned of the importance of optimizing my Vitamin D levels and am sure that I've been deficient all of my 37 years.

I learn just a little too late, as I'm battling the flu right now.  I live just outside of Chicago so it is spreading like crazy.

Before I came across your site I placed all the trust in my doctors who demonized the Sun and told me to stay out of it.

I don't have a gallbladder and spoke with one of your Reps, Lisa, who could not find out if it is safe for me to take vitamin D without a gallbladder.

I went to the Vitamin D council where I read that you need bile to activate the Viatmin D properly.

My questions are:

1>  Should a person without a gallbladder take Vitamin D3?  I am going to get my levels tested though I'm positive they are severly low.

2>  I suffer from frequent heartburn and wonder if Vitamin D will help with it?

With great respect and admiration for all you do for mankind

Hello Toni,

It would be best for you to use Dr. Mercola's vitamin D spray.  You are correct that the bile that would normally be released from the gallbladder is important for most supplementation of vitamin D, but not the case with the spray.  This is due to the fact that most of the absorption is actually taking place through the capillaries in the mouth and getting directly into the blood stream.

The heart burn may be assisted by taking the Complete Probiotics and Dr. Mercola's new digestive enzyme.  Based on the lack of gallbladder I would suggest these anyway.  It may also help to take lecithin to aid in the breakdown of fat.

Thank you very much for clarifying this for me and all the others who don't have gallbladders but still want to be in the best health possible!
