I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 1 and a half years old. I have been receiving the yearly flu vaccine for my entire life, due to my autoimmune diseases (I also have Celiac disease, which is an allergy to gluten products). Since joining Dr. Mercola's email newsletter, I have been learning how bad yearly vaccines are. Now with the big bad Swine flu abounds, I have decided that I am not getting the swine vaccine. Anyways, I want to start taking Vitamin D supplements but want to get my levels checked first. I need some advise on the best route to do this cost wise. Should I do it through my diabetes clinic?
I live in the Chicago IL suburbs, if that helps.
I hope somebody can help me, as I am in new territory.
Good for you for educating yourself...feels great doesn't it?

I too was told I had type 1 diabetes...but at age 23. I was born in '74 which means I most likely only recieved 3 USA(good ol'gov't she is:( ) vaccinations. Maybe more as I got older...I can't recall(since I'm 35 now) and don't even know if I could find out. But I read somwhere that kids nowdays have to have 29 gov't required vaccinations to be allowed enrollment in a US based educational facility. Hmmm...how much mercury and aluminum and other things, we don't know about, have been put into our bodies over the years? Never had any flu vaccines as a kid that I remember, but have gotten them sometimes on my doctors request. Reason I ask is cause I don't know your age. I am a diabetic but have no Gluten allergy. I too will not be gettin' the laboratory(BIGPHARAM created, vaccine=money)swine(H1N1) vaccine nor any other flu vaccine. I have a 4 year old son, who has breathing problems. No signs of sortness of breathe, just a tendency to have cough and sickness in the cooler months. And we're almost sure he as non-food allergies(like pet, dust, and pollen). Doc's say, "can't test for asthma that young", but they all ask first "Has he been TESTED for ASTHMA?" Are they looking at his file? Do they know how old he is? Shut your mouth(DOCTOR) if he can't be tested for asthma and you have looked at his file, why are you asking? I crap you not, every doctor he has seen has asked and even one said he, too, had asthma. After asking and recieving a 'no' answer, everyone of them has said they can't test for asthma that young. DO YOUR JOB and earn the RIDICULOUS amount of money that my insurance company is paying. Gettin' off subject here, but I just joined Mercola today. Have a long history of reading posts here, just not as a registered user. Problem is, I see Mercola asking people to join an "inner circle" to gain valuable information for $25/month. WTF!!!!!! Preach about GREED then CONDONE it. Information should be free. If your're already paid to do a job, I.E. determine what vitamins, nutrients, vaccines we should/shouldn't get, don't ask me to pay more for your opinion. You doctors are a greedy bunch in my eyes. I know it cost money to run things, but the information you recieve is free. Pass it on.
