Hi I'm looking for some resorses for my wife. She is 8 months pregnant and has had bad diarea for the last two weeks. Not many other symptoms other that slight sick feeling in stomach. She looks heathy and is drinking pleanty of water and taking lots and lots of probiotics. This seemed to work a little and her stool was firmer for a few days but doesn't last. We have well water and we stopped drinking it and using a berkey filter. She had a stool sample tested that came back negative and no white blood cells (in the stool I guess). We drink raw milk but she stopped that a week ago as well. We are having the water tested.

We are worried about the baby. Anyone know a good resource for pathogens and diognosing these type of situations? Or a baby/mother site that may have some advice? Since she still has the sympyoms I wonder how accurite the stool test could have been. How reliable are labs?

We live in the catskill mtns of NY.

Thank you

-ron

One thing you can try is an iron supplement. A pregnant woman's iron level is often low, and iron also can cause constipation.  So an iron supplement would likely benefit her blood and also bind the stools.  It should work quickly so you can evaluate its effectiveness within a few days.

I would also suggest she try acupuncture to balance the meridians connected to the intestines. Acupuncture is totally safe during pregnancy as long as a few points are avoided, but all acupuncturists should be aware of those.

She can also try homeopathic Arsenicum to stop the diarrhea. It can be purchased at most health food stores.

Best of luck for your wife and your new family!

Thank you Dr. Sharada!

A healer friend of ours just suggested that maybe she is actually constipated and only the liquids are getting by. He asked if she eats a lot of gluten products and we do eat a lot of brown rice and sour dough bread. This and the negative result stool sample lead to his prediction. However your suggestions make sense. We will look into it tomorrow.

Thank you!

Hi,

I know of 2 products that can stop D. Cholacol II (bentonite) by Standard Process and A.D.P. by Biotics Research. The ADP is emulsified Oil of Oregano and should be used for Candida (fungal infection/Yeast).

I am not a doctor - these are just the products that my holistic doctor treats me with when I have bouts of D.

If she thinks it is food poisoning (maybe from the raw milk?), she should check with a holistic doctor before using bentonite, because I can't say what effect it will have on the baby. You could always call Dr. Mercola for his answer as well. Holistic doctors that treat with these 2 products are in all big cities. Standard Process will find you the closest doctor if you contact them at www.standardprocess.com.

Good Luck,

Carole

I would also try adding zinc get the one that dissolve in the mouth. Mercola has an article just posted that zinc can help stop diarea in African children.. For long term get some magnesium oil swanson vitamins. Minerals are often over looked during pregnancy. If she has muscle cramps; she is magnesium deficient.
