Thank you Dr. Mercola for bringing attention to Low Dose Naltrexone! Your interview with Dr. Berkson is spot on, this information can help so many suffering from life threatening diseases.
My remarkable recovery from MS began 5 years ago, when I escaped my wheelchair after starting Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN). This led me to become a patient advocate, raising patient awareness and research funds for this promising therapy.
In 2005 I helped form the LDN Research Fund. Patients who had benefited from LDN contributed $25,000, which went to the first human trial of LDN for MS, at UCSF. The positive trial results were presented at neurology conferences in 2008. The double-blind placebo controlled 8 week pilot found a significant effect for mood improvement, decreased pain and fatigue. Hopefully a longer study will follow, to track the effect on progression and disability. A multi-year trial is also under way in Italy, that has already published positive 6 month results in the Journal of Multiple Sclerosis.
I was able to help compile all the known information on LDN when Elaine A. Moore invited me to co-author ‘The Promise of Low Dose Naltrexone Therapy: Potential Benefits in Cancer, Autoimmune, Neurological and Infectious Disorders’. This book assembles all the research in one reference book, including our interviews with the scientists who are documenting positive outcomes, across multiple conditions like cancer, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, autism, HIV, Hepatitis C, and Chron's disease. Why does it help so many conditions? The commonality is immune system dysfunction, which LDN corrects. These early pilot trials are occurring at major institutions such as Penn State, UCSF and Stanford. But LDN is available today with a doctor's prescription, and has been FDA approved for over 25 years. Our book seeks to educate patients and practitioners on therapeutic benefits that can be had today, from this side-effect free 4.5 mg pill. Thousands of patients have already experienced this. You can wait for more studies, or you can talk to your doctor and try it now.
At my website you can find the story on my LDN recovery from MS, the LDN book, links to LDN resources, and LDN research reports across multiple conditions.
Hi I would like to add to Sammyjo's post I have had great results with LDN for arthritis, (Ankylosing spondylitis) Google LDN and look on youtube there is a lot of info out there and it maybe the best thing you ever did! Best Vince (UK)
